¡That Pool!
When we bought the property half of the lot was an unmaintained pile of dirt with palm trees, avocado trees and mango trees bumping out in random spots. We knew this was the prime spot for a pool but needed to determine where in the large empty space made the most sense.
Meanwhile we were living between Casa Momo and Casa Felix. One served as our family bed/bathroom and the other as our kitchen, living and dining space.
Construction was to begin on the former studio which would eventually become Casa Padre, our family home. And while we waited for a bigger crew to assemble to tackle that project our team was able to immediately attack the pool project.
We sketched ideas on napkins and scraps of paper. In keynote and google slides. Swapped inspirational images on instagram and screenshots from pinterest ultimately making the decision that a checkerboard would be the right mix of impact and tradition.
One week after receiving the keys we broke ground on what would become our beloved and iconic swimming pool. Less than three months later the pool was complete but as you can see Casa Padre was still in full renovation.
This did not deter us from dipping into the pool. We spent most weekends (when our construction team was on break) poolside with limonadas, cocas and pizza. Grateful to be able enjoy the playful pool while the dust from construction had settled for the weekend.
